Car care

Workshop

Build cars from parts, press cars you no longer need, tune the ones you love and rebuild worn ones. How each tab works.

Parts#

Racing gives you parts. There are six everyday parts and one rare one:

PartUsed for
Engine, Gearbox, TurboPower upgrades (tuning) and builds
Wheels, Suspension, ChassisGrip upgrades (tuning) and builds
BlueprintThe rare part. Needed for Pro builds and for the last tuning step.

You get parts from:

  • Winning a race (more parts in later stages).
  • The first clear of a stage (a bonus), and a Blueprint the first time you beat a boss.
  • Losing, sometimes: a small chance of a part.
  • Pressing a car (see below).

Your part stock is shown in the workshop and in the corner of the screen.

The tabs#

The Workshop has four tabs: Build, Press, Tune and Rebuild.

Build#

Turn parts into a brand new car. There are two recipes:

RecipeYou needResult
StandardA set of every one of the six regular parts, plus a TORQ feeMostly Common and Uncommon, with a small shot at higher rarities
ProMore of every part, a Blueprint, plus a TORQ feeBetter odds at Rare and above

The result's colour is rolled just like a crate (see Cars) and you get the same showcase opening. Building is slower and cheaper than buying crates, and it is paid for by playing.

Press#

Put a car you don't need into the press to get parts back. Better, healthier cars give more. You also get back some of the parts you invested in tuning it.

  • Pressing is permanent. The car is destroyed.
  • The press uses a hold-to-confirm button.
  • Your last car can never be pressed.
  • A worn engine gives fewer parts, so service the car first if you are scrapping it for value.
  • Rare, Ultra Rare and Epic cars can also drop a Blueprint.

Tune#

Make a car you love faster without changing what it is. A car can be tuned through four steps. Each step adds a bonus to the car's performance and costs parts and TORQ. Power steps add engine power, grip steps make the car lighter and add torque.

StepTypeCost grows with...
1Powerthe car's rarity
2Gripthe car's rarity
3Powerthe car's rarity
4Grip, needs a Blueprintthe car's rarity

Each step has a chance of success and the chance gets lower on each step. If a step fails, the parts are used up, but the next attempt at the same step is a little more likely to work (a built-in safety net).

A maxed tune is meant to add a modest boost: a tuned Common never turns into a Rare. Tuned cars show their gain in the stat bars and as a "+" next to the PI.

Rebuild#

Restores part of a worn-out car's odometer. See Odometer & Rebuild.
