Getting started

Connect a Solana wallet (on devnet), choose your driver name and take your first steps. The open beta is wallet only.

Open the game#

Play at play.torqueclub.fun. The open beta is made for a desktop PC browser (best on desktop PC; a phone layout is coming later). It is a 3D game, so it needs a recent browser with WebGL and hardware acceleration turned on. You can change sound and graphics quality at any time from the buttons in the game. On a weak computer, pick a lower Graphics setting.

The open beta is wallet only#

To play you need a Solana wallet. There is no guest mode in the open beta.

NetworkSolana devnet, a practice network

What you can doEverything: crates, racing, the pot, the Daily Tournament, the Arena, the Market, deposits and withdrawals of test TORQ

Your progress is tied to your wallet, so signing in again with the same wallet brings your garage back.

Connect a wallet#

Torque Club supports Phantom, Solflare and Backpack. All three work the same way:

  1. Install one of them as a browser extension and create your wallet.
  2. Put the wallet on devnet (Phantom: Settings, Developer Settings, Testnet Mode, Solana Devnet). Solflare and Backpack have a similar network setting. Deposits and withdrawals need devnet.
  3. In the game choose Connect wallet, then pick your wallet.
  4. Your wallet opens and asks you to sign a message. Read it, then approve.
  5. You are in. Your garage is tied to that wallet. If your wallet has almost no SOL, the game sends it a small amount of devnet SOL by itself for network fees.

If no wallet is found, the game tells you which ones are supported. Moving TORQ between your wallet and the game is covered in Wallet, deposits and withdrawals.

If the wallet will not connect#

  • "No Solana wallet was found": install Phantom, Solflare or Backpack.
  • "The request was closed": nothing was signed. Open the wallet again and approve the message.
  • The wallet does not answer: open its window (it may be hidden behind the browser) and try again.
  • "Too many tries": wait a minute and try again.
  • "This address isn't the one the game server expects": you are probably on the wrong website. Close it and open the game by typing play.torqueclub.fun yourself (see Safety).
  • Your wallet seems cut off from the network: check the network setting of the wallet and try again.
  • "Your session expired": connect the wallet again.

Still stuck? Ask in the Discord. Never send your seed phrase to anyone while explaining the problem.

Your driver name#

After connecting you can choose a driver name, the name other players see. If you skip, your wallet address is used until you set one. The rules, in plain words:

  • Between 4 and 16 characters.
  • Only letters (A to Z), numbers and the underscore (_). No spaces and no accents.
  • At least one letter, and it cannot start or end with an underscore.
  • It must be unique: if someone has it, you will see "Already taken".
  • Names that look like a wallet address, that are reserved, or that are not appropriate are refused.

Your first name is free. You can change it later from the driver menu, but there is a waiting time between changes and later changes cost a small amount of TORQ. Your old name stays reserved for you for a while, so nobody can grab it right after you leave it.

Your first session#

  1. Go to the Crate shop and open a Street crate (see Crates).
  2. Admire your car in the Garage, then check its fuel in the Service screen.
  3. Open the world tour map and race the first stage of Heartland (see World tour).
  4. Read your result: it tells you what to improve (see Racing).
  5. Later, enter the Daily Tournament, and once you clear stage 5 of region 1 you can unlock the Arena.
