The daily pot and race points
How the pot works, how winning races scores points, why it pays every hour, what changes your share, and the fine print.
The idea#
There is a pot: a shared pile of TORQ. It is not printed from thin air and it is not a fixed salary. It is filled by what players spend in the game (see Tokenomics) and by other sources that the project announces publicly. Every day a slice of the pot is set aside and paid out hour by hour to the players who raced, according to their race points. Your cars race for a share of today's pot.
The Today's pot screen shows the pot, how much is in play today, your points, everybody's points, your share, the countdown to the next payout and what you received in the last one. It never shows a "pay-back date", because there isn't one.
Race points#
Each win scores race points. Losses score nothing. What makes a win worth more or less:
- The stage. Every stage has a base value, and later stages are worth more.
- The region. Harder regions are worth more per win. Climbing the tour is the biggest lever.
- Your driving. Clean launches, well-timed shifts and a good nitro raise your driving multiplier. A sloppy win scores noticeably less than a perfect one.
- Fatigue. Winning the same stage again and again scores less each time. Try new stages.
- Pickups. Points floating on the track add to the win when you collect them. They only count if you win.
The results screen after each race breaks your points down line by line (Base, Region, Driving, Fatigue, Pickups) so you can see where they came from.
How the pot pays: every hour, over a 24-hour window#
The pot does not wait for the end of the day. It pays every hour, on the hour (UTC). Here is how it works:
- The day's amount is fixed once. At 00:00 UTC the game takes a fixed percentage of the pot's balance at that moment: that is the day's release. The Today's pot screen always shows the current percentage.
- It is cut into 24 equal parts. Each hour the pot pays 1/24 of the day's release, so the 24 payments add up to the day's release exactly.
- Each hour is split by points of the last 24 hours. Every race you win scores points, and those points count for 24 hours, then they drop out of the window. Your share of an hourly payment is your points in the last 24 hours divided by everyone's points in the last 24 hours.
- A point is worth the same whenever you scored it. A win at 03:00 counts for the next 24 payments, no matter what time it was.
So:
- More points from you means a bigger slice, and a win keeps paying for 24 hours.
- More players racing means the same hourly amount is cut into more pieces.
- The same points can be worth a different amount at different hours.
- An hour in which nobody has points pays nothing, and that part simply stays in the pot.
Only wallet accounts in good standing receive a payment, and this is checked at every payment. Only cars with rewarded races left score points (see Odometer & Rebuild).
What you see in the game#
- Next payout in: a countdown to the top of the next hour.
- Last hour: what you received in the most recent payment.
- Estimate for the next payout and for the next 24 hours: these assume today's release and the points in the window right now. They move as other players race.
- Yesterday: the sum of the 24 payments of the previous UTC day. You get one notification a day with that total, not one per hour.
The pot is not emptied: only a slice is paid each day and the rest carries over.
Launch season#
The first stretch after launch is the launch season: a bigger part of the pot is set aside each day. When it ends, a smaller part is set aside per day. The screen shows how many days of the season are left.
Ways to score more points#
Fine print#
- The beta is wallet only: you need a connected wallet to play, and so to receive a share.
- A car you buy on the Market scores no points for the first 48 hours (see Market).
- Points are only given for races you win. A race that is not a normal, completed race scores nothing.
- Accounts that cheat or abuse the game can be suspended and lose their share.
- Rules, percentages and limits are launch values that will be tuned during the beta with real data. We will tell you in the Discord when something changes.
- Not financial advice. Playing is not an investment and nobody can promise you any amount.
