The Market

Sell your cars to other players or buy theirs at a fixed price. How fees, locks and the anti-abuse rules work.

The idea#

The Market lets players sell cars to each other for TORQ. You pick a price, the car goes on sale, and the first player who presses Buy now gets it. Listings are at a fixed price: there are no auctions and no offers.

You need a connected wallet to buy or sell. The seller is shown by driver name only.

Selling a car#

  1. Open the car in the garage and press Sell.
  2. Pick a price. Each rarity has a minimum and a maximum (they stop typos and tiny trades), shown on the screen. "Use floor" fills in the lowest price currently listed for that model, as a reference.
  3. Pick how long it stays listed: 1, 3 or 7 days. When the time runs out, the listing ends and the car is released.
  4. Confirm. You can have up to 10 listings at once and can cancel any time, which returns the car.

The fee#

The seller pays a 5% fee on the sale; the buyer pays exactly the listed price. The fee is split in half: 2.5% to the daily pot and 2.5% to the treasury. Nothing is burned. The sale screen shows the fee and what you will receive before you confirm.

While a car is listed#

It is locked: it cannot race, be selected, tuned, serviced, rebuilt or scrapped, and it cannot enter the Arena or the Daily Tournament. Cancel the listing to use it again.

What a car needs to be listed#

  • It is not in the Arena (leave the Arena first).
  • It was not used in a Daily Tournament attempt of a day that has no result yet (the lock ends at that day's result).
  • It has no unfinished race.
  • It was not bought in the last 7 days (see below).

Buying a car#

Browse by rarity, model, colour, PI, odometer left and price, and sort the list. Press Buy now and confirm. If the price changed while you were looking, the game asks you to check it again. Sales are final: the car comes exactly as shown.

The whole car travels with it: its odometer, rebuilds, wear, tune level, edition badge and win record. You receive it as a new car in your garage.

After you buy#

  • The car scores no daily-pot points for 48 hours. Racing, wear, parts and the odometer work as usual.
  • You can list it again only 7 days after it changed hands.

Floor price and recent sales#

For each model the Market shows plain facts: the floor price (the lowest active listing right now), how many are listed, and the recent sales. They are just information. They are not a forecast of any price.

Keeping the Market fair#

  • Linked accounts cannot trade with each other. If two accounts look linked, the Market refuses the trade without saying more.
  • Trades that look arranged between linked accounts (wash trading) can be flagged and left out of the price figures.
  • Several limits are tied to each car, not to the account, so moving a car between your own accounts gives no advantage.

The team can pause the Market. While it is paused you can still look and cancel your listings, but not buy or list.
