Car care
Odometer and Rebuild
Every car can score points for a limited number of races. What happens when they run out, and how Rebuild brings them back.
The odometer#
Each car can score points in the daily pot for a limited number of races. That number is the car's odometer, shown in the garage as "races left". Better rarities last longer: a Common has the fewest rewarded races and a Legendary has the most (roughly twice as many).
The odometer only counts rewarded races. It is the reason there is no point in owning a hundred identical cars to farm the pot: every car runs out, and the limits belong to each car.
The game warns you when a car is getting low ("Only N rewarded races left").
When the odometer is empty#
The car is not gone. It still exists and it can still:
- Race for fun, with no points and no pot share.
- Be rebuilt in the workshop to get races back.
- Be scrapped in the press for parts (see Workshop).
- Be listed on the Market: the odometer travels with the car, and the buyer sees it (see Market).
The results screen tells you "Odometer empty, no rewards. Rebuild it in the Workshop."
Rebuild#
Rebuild restores half of the car's odometer. It is a tab in the Workshop, next to Build, Press and Tune.
- Rebuild unlocks once the odometer is at or below 50%. Before that, the button is locked.
- It costs parts and a fee in TORQ. The fee depends on the car's rarity, and the exact price is still being tuned in the beta.
- Like a crate or a tune, a rebuild is held-to-confirm so you do not trigger it by accident.
- The odometer, the tune, the wear and the daily race slots all belong to the car.
Daily slots vs. odometer#
These are two different limits and both apply:
| Limit | What it counts | How it resets |
|---|---|---|
| Daily slots | Races a car can start in any 24 hours | A slot frees 24 hours after it was used |
| Odometer | Total rewarded races in the car's life | Restored by Rebuild |
Arena duels use neither: they are raced at full condition and cost no slot, fuel, wear or odometer.
